Although the text on this image is hard to decipher, the order of the steps to exit your dorm during a fire drill is quite amusing. The list of steps is as follows:
-Close and lock door (shouldn't that be listed last?)
-Close windows
-Leave lights on
-Take I.D. and key
-Leave the building
First of all, this sign is so small that I didn't even realize this was on the back of my door (especially because there is a very large coat hanger...with tons of coats...blocking it). Besides that, I do not think in the panic of a fire students would stop and read the directions before they are engulfed by flames (or not engulfed by flames). How are we supposed to exit the building? Or leave the building, rather. I mean, I know the stairs are a good place to start, but the notice doesn't really instruct us on what to do...and if we are closing the windows and flames block the door...don't you agree we are screwed? But no worries, at least the lights will be on for someone to see us and save us. However, considering the fact we are closing and locking the doors FIRST, no one will be able to get us if we have our key! Especially if the door is blocked off with fire. Well I certainly hope Lawrence doesn't have any serious fires before this fire drill direction sheet is revised...
